Iceland, Denmark and Norway are considered the most peaceful countries in the world while Iraq the most violent, according to a recent report of the World Peace Index (WPI) published on Tuesday in London. Within this top, Romania is on the 24 position of 140 countries whose situation was analyzed in the study. Before Romania there are countries like Uruguay, Netherlands, Hong Kong. 19 May 08 EU experts to investigate Romanias fight against corruption
European Commission experts have arrived in Bucharest for an official visit to evaluate Romania's judicial reforms in the fight against corruption. Justice minister Catalin Predoiu met on Monday with the anti-graft prosecutors' head and assured him that the ministry will support their work in the fight against corruption. However, Romania registered several drawbacks in this sector: high corruption cases seem to be locked in the Parliament and the Constitutional Court seems to favor special interests. An old woman from Cernavoda, South Romania was declared dead by the medical nurse working on an Ambulance but she woke up during the coroner's investigation, Romanian television Realitatea TV informs. The woman who suffered from a stroke reacted at a photo blitz. They immediately transported her to a hospital but the woman died a couple of hours later.
