Romanian insurance companies lost some 75.8 million euro in 2007, this being the second year their results are negative, Insurance Monitoring Commission (CSA) president Angela Toncescu declared on Tuesday for Romanian news agency NewsIn. Medien Holding SRL, the joint venture formed by Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung and Romanian Nova Group, which holds a majority stake in Societatea R, publisher of reputed Romanian newspaper Romania libera, has reached a deal with the associates in Domus Magazin to buy all their participations in the publishing house. Domus Magazin, which last year was the target of a failed takeover attempt by Dutch group De Telegraaf, publishes several home&deco magazines such as Domus, Caminul, Casa mea and Art&Style. 19 May 08 Phishing: 38 members from Romanian – American network accused of bank fraud
Some 38 people from Romania and the US were accused of computer and credit card fraud, US General Attorney Mark R. Filip and his Romanian counterpart Laura Codruta Kovesi have declared.
